Odd Pet


It was a dark and stormy night.


I was in my bed.  Suddenly, I heard a very strange noise. I am in my new house in Africa. The house is in the middle of nowhere. Well, it was actually in the savannahs. The noise was getting louder and louder. It sounded like heavy footsteps. The house was very big, I was afraid and I didn’t want to leave my bedroom. Unexpectedly, the door swung open with a bang.  I pulled my blanket and I didn’t want to look to see what it was. Soon I realized I was all covered in water. Damn! My brother’s pet elephant had broken into the house and gushed water all over me. Jiiiimmyyyyy!

You know no one but the host and they’ve had to rush to the kitchen to rescue some smoking vol-au-vents from the oven. You spot a friendly looking fellow guest, also on their own, and sidle over to make their acquaintance by the buffet table. You swap names. You compare notes on your respective journeys to the venue.
