Brazil is a good place to live, but there are serious problems in the country. The most serious problem is inequality. Brazil has lots of rich but the majority of the population is very poor. Another big problem is corruption. The criminality in Brazil is also very high.

The north of Brazil is hot. The south of Brazil is a little colder than the north.

Brazil shares borders with 10 smaller countries. Brazil shares borders with Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.

About two hundred thousand people live in Brazil. São Paulo, the biggest city, is the financial capital of the country. Brasilia is the federal capital. Brazil is very known outside for Rio de Janeiro's biggest icons. A natural one and a man made one. The natural one is the Sugar Loaf. The man made one is Christh the Redeemer.

In Brazil everybody speaks Portuguese. They don't speak Spanish like some people might think. 7 Countries near Brazil speak Spanish.

Portuguese and Spanish are not equal. They are not equal but they are very similar. People in Brazil understand Spanish a little.

The history books says that Brazil was discovered in 1500. It was discovered by Pedro Alvarez Cabral. Cabral was from Portugal. Apparently, Brazil was discovered by accident. Some people disagree.

Before Cabral there were people living here. They had a different type of life. They did not wear clothes. They hunted for food. They had their faces painted. They lived in tribes. It all changed after the arrival of the Portuguese people. Later, more and more people came too. People from all over the world. That's why Brazil is a big mixture of many different cultures.
