How to learn a language? | LEVEL 06




What is the secret to speak a any language? There is no secret. To speak any language you need words.  So, to learn a language you need to learn words, lots of words. But, the question is, how many many words one you needs to know to speak a language? 

There is a very interesting study about the English language. This study gives a number. The number is 800. This is the number of the most common words in English. 

The study says that you will find these 800 words in 86% of the texts. There is a list with these words. The first 25 words you will find in 33% of the texts. And the first 100 words you will find in 100% of the texts. So, these are the key words you need to learn. 

Are Brazilian?  Do you speak Portuguese? Be happy! 60% of the English language is Latin based. It means that 60% of the English vocabulary is similar to Portuguese.  So, you have been granted a bonus. Enjoy it!

So, if it is similar to Portuguese, it is also similar to languages like Italian, French and Spanish. 

Ok, so if I want to learn a new language all I need to do is learn words?
